Thank you for visiting my blog The Organic Mommy.  My name is Janel and I recently started this blog and my website www.theorganicmommy.org in 2008.  Being a new stay-at-home mom has not only given me a whole new outlook on my family life but also given me the opportunity to research and learn about better ways to care for my family.  My goal is to give you easy to understand information so that you can make your own decisions as to what is best for your family.

Lets face it, in this crazy world we live in there are lots of things to worry about.  As parents we have the usual concerns about our children’s safety that parents have had for generations.  But lately there are alot of new concerns that face parents of our generation.  What toys are safe for our kids to play with?  Are foods that contain pesticides ok to eat?  Are plastic baby bottles really ok to use?  What are schools feeding our kids?  What does “free range” really mean?

I hope that these posts and my website will answer some of your questions and let you be able to make informed decisions for your family.  Can we do it all and be perfect?  Probably not!  But as with everything in life you need to pick your battles and prioritize what you want to accomplish.  I would like to say that my son has no toys made in china, eats 100% everything organic, doesnt drink from a plastic sippy cup, wears all organic clothing, and doesnt use disposable diapers.  Sadly this is not the case.  But I do try my best to research which toy companies are using the most USA products.  I try very hard for all his fruits, veggies, and dairy products to be organic and although the stores by me dont carry organic mean I do buy hormone and steroid free.  Being a one income family means we are on a tight budget and alot of times live paycheck to paycheck.  But there are some budget friendly ways to enjoy an organic lifestyle.

As I learn more and grow as a mommy I will add to my posts and website.   Please check back often to see new posts and information regarding organic lifestyles and dangers that can hurt our kids.  Enjoy your family and stay safe!
